In addition to our flagship international projects, Blue Planet Writers’ Room reaches out to the local community with creative workshops for marginalized young people.

Serving youth outside of a traditional school setting is important to our mission of enabling students to tell their own stories and share them with others.

We lead weekly creative writing and drama improv workshops for teens living in the shelters at Children’s Home Society in West Palm Beach. Runaway teens, abused and neglected girls who have been taken from their homes, teen mothers, and youths involved in the juvenile justice system find creative expression, inspiration, and much-needed fun in these workshops led by Blue Planet teaching artists and writers. See more examples of their work in our Project Showcase.
